Ownwell is a large company ran out of Austin, TX. Clients that hire them will not get someone local who is familiar with the area. They also historically have never done any hearings in person and have never shown up to the Lubbock Appraisal district in person. The past two years they handled everything over the phone or email. A former LCAD appraiser who worked with them extensively strongly recommends not using them, as they will just take whatever LCAD will give them or any low hanging fruit. ACE of TEXAS however always fights for lower than what LCAD offers and provides evidence to help support lower values.
Our fee is a little higher but it is based on the amount of time and resources required to do the job correctly and appear in person to deal with the LCAD appraisers as well as appearing in person at any needed Appraisal Review Board hearings. Our rates are some of the lowest in the state. In addition, our tax consultants have a combined 15 years of actual LCAD appraisal experience and over 15 years as Property Tax Consultants right here in Lubbock.
